Today is the official observance of Veterans Day which was yesterday. Anything for a Monday holiday, I guess.
Yesterday I received the picture below. It’s Captain Blanks who was my captain on the USS WILLIAM H. STANDLEY (DLG-32) when I served as Navigator.
I learned so much from him concerning duty, honor and commitment. I also learned never to assume. We went through a lot of experiences together, some very challenging. And, we had a lot of laughs together.
I’m also happy to call him a brother-in-Christ.
Finally, notice the cap he’s wearing – WWII, Korea, Vietnam Veteran. Not many people can wear that cap.
God’s blessings Captain and fair winds and smooth seas.
That is an amazing man and he served in so many ways. Not many can claim they served in all 3 wars!!!
