Sanctity of Human Life Sunday

Today, January 20, is Sanctity of Human Life Sunday.  Betty and I are giving a short presentation of our involvement with Care Net at our church.

Care Net supports mothers and fathers dealing with a pregnancy, no matter the reason or cause.  All of our services are free.  Even though we want every child to be born and either raised by the birth mother and father or adopted if that’s not possible, we know some mothers and fathers consider another choice.

Our focus is “save the mother and you save the child.”  Our goal is to give loving support to a pregnant woman no matter her state of mind.  And, if possible, introduce her to the love of Jesus Christ or at least plant the seeds.

Betty had a ‘miracle’ encounter a few months back.

A young woman came in for a pregnancy test and it appeared she was high on drugs.  She was not open at all to Betty’s best efforts to show her love.  When she found out she was pregnant she shut down completely and became very angry.  There was no doubt in Betty’s mind she was thinking abortion when she left.  It was the most troubling client Betty has ever had and she had done all she could to show Christ’s love to her.

A few months later, out of the blue, she called the office and needed a proof of pregnancy to get some needed help.  We invited her in and her boyfriend, the father, came with her.

The difference was night and day.  She was clean and very happy about her baby.  She and the father laughed as they chose clothing, blankets and diapers out of our clothing closet.  We don’t know what made the difference, but we know God was involved somehow.

The final miracle of her story is her baby, a boy, was born on Christmas Day.

Every little bit of support, financial or your time, for your local organization that tries to show Christ’s love to these women and men can make a difference in a child’s life.
