A Great Monday on Maui

(This is a long post) We started our Monday early so we could go snorkeling at Honolua Bay, a marine reserve North of where we’re staying. Getting there early gives us calmer water and far fewer people who show up later in the morning.

Chris, on his second day of snorkeling, saw his second sea turtle. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture of it, but Betty and I saw it too. He has been very fortunate to see two sea turtles this quickly.

It was a good day and we saw a lot of fish…

Later in the morning, I saw a sea turtle in the distance coming my way. I stopped swimming, thinking he would turn away as he got closer. But he didn’t…

The walk to and from Honolua Bay goes through some neat Hawaiian jungle…

And we encountered several of the feral chickens, including this hen with her chicks…

For lunch we went to a place called Whaler’s Village and had a great meal of panko encrusted ahi (tuna) at the Hula Grill…

All in all a good day.
