Friday on the Big Island

We had a full and amazing Friday. It started at Blue Hawaiian Helicopters where we took a helicopter tour of the whole island…

Betty got to sit up front with our pilot, Beau…

We flew over Kilauea which is the main volcano on the island. However, the recent lava flow that decimated so much of the island earlier this year came from the Pu’u ‘Ō’ō spatter vent on Kilauea’s side. The lava flow has stopped but there are still active steam vents in Pu’u ‘Ō’ō’s crater…

After volcano fields, we flew along the coast to see the many waterfalls…

It was a two hour flight and we saw so much more before returning to the terminal…

It was an amazing flight… then we had lunch at the Seafood Bar…

On our way back to Hapuna Beach we saw several Nene Geese which are endangered…

We finished our Friday by having dinner by the pool as the sun set on the ocean…

It was a full and very enjoyable day.
