Christmas is past for this year, but here are a few good memories.
Wade Daniel, Marie, Juliet and Leah spent a fair amount of time in the Denver airport. Their flight was delayed several hours. They were supposed to arrive in Nashville at 11:05 PM, but didn’t arrive until 1:35 AM. Chris and I picked them up at the airport. It was a long night for everyone.
Here are a couple of pictures from their Denver airport stay….
Betty’s sister, Margie, always has a Christmas Eve Eve dinner for everyone. Chris, whose hobby is creating cocktails, prepared different versions of Tom Collins.
One of the neat things at our dinner at Margie’s was Chris’ surprise for Wade Daniel. In his college junior year, Wade Daniel studied for a year in Japan. While there he took two classes of Japanese style painting. He sent three of these to his brother Chris while he was in Japan. Several years ago Chris had them framed and brought them for Wade Daniel to see. He was surprised. His pictures looked great in their frames. It was a special ‘brother time’ for the two of them.
One of the things we were looking forward to was meeting our newest member of our extended family. Our nephew Patrick married a lovely girl from Singapore named Michelle. About a year and a half ago, they had their first child, James, born in Singapore.
Finally, on their last day, Wade Daniel took Juliet and Leah to the Parthenon in Centennial Park in Nashville. Juliet’s class at school recently studied Greek history and her teacher mentioned the Nashville Parthenon as an example of Greek architecture. The Nashville Parthenon was built in 1897 as part of the Nashville Centennial Exposition. As far as is known, it’s a good reproduction of what the original Parthenon in Athens, Greece looked like in it’s day.
It was a special Christmas because we had all of Betty’s family together with the exception of a niece and her family. Lots of good memories but no pictures to go with them.
