Baseball? Soccer? Football? Then There’s Rugby

I love baseball with its strategy and skill, but it’s not the most demanding sport. Soccer is a lot of running, fake injury falling, and little scoring. Football is a demanding sport with lots of big men wearing a lot of protective gear running and smashing into each other, sometimes with a lot of scoring and other times little scoring.

Then there’s rugby. I don’t know a lot about it, but this video between Australia and the New Zealand All Blacks shows rugby has skill and tactics, a lot of running, no fake injury falling, and some extremely tough and rough play with no protective gear.

I don’t understand the rules or most of the tactics, but I’m impressed – especially when the New Zealand All Blacks start the match with a haka, a traditional Maori battle preparation. It’s a serious game.
