Balloon Fiesta!
Posted on October 3, 2025

There’s a lot about New Mexico that we enjoy, but perhaps the most unique is the International Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta which starts tomorrow.
A few numbers to give perspective to this incredible event:
*551 hot air balloons, including 106 special shapes of which 11 are new
*Around 900,000 people are expected, 73% of whom will be out-of-state visitors
*Balloons from 45 US states and 16 countries from around the world
*Over 34,000 doughnuts, 48,000 event pins, 60,000 calendars, 16,200 t-shirts, and 9,000 hats sold during the event
The final unique thing for us is this is our 22nd Balloon Fiesta and only the third time we won’t have out-of-state visitors here to see it. We get to sit back and watch the balloons fly up our way like the balloon in the picture above, many landing all around our house.
It never gets old
The March Of Technology
Posted on October 2, 2025
One of the things that government hasn’t meddled in yet is technology. The computer and chip companies have been free to create and move technology at an amazing rate.
This is a one terabyte (1,048,576 megabytes) external drive I got years ago and haven’t used in a long time.

The reason I haven’t used the big drive above is the technology companies have been able to bring new technologies on freely. This is a 2 terabyte drive that I use now. And it gets even better.

This is a one terabyte micro drive that I use. Amazing to compare it with the big, bulky drive above which had the same storage capacity.

Now if we could just get the government out of other businesses such as the automobile companies.

Coyote Song
Posted on September 30, 2025
Last week as we were enjoying our coffee, we heard a uniquely New Mexico sound. It was a young coyote just across the street. He barked and yipped for at least 15 minutes. There wasn’t another coyote around. Maybe he was trying to find some friends.
National Coffee Day Monday

For my good friend Bob who loves coffee even more than me …

It takes me two or three times to get all the images right …

My older sister taught me a lot, and I miss her …

Better to be safe than sorry …

Skipper, skipper, tell me this is all true …

I don’t know if I ever went to a hip joint …

He doesn’t look like a rule follower, but I could be wrong …

All of us have a tell …

Good imagination, just wrong …

Best not to tease a T-Rex …

On man, so true …

And Walmart is the culprit …

Awww, cute …

Another so true …

Finally, another so true and perhaps the best of all …
