We were in St. Louis, MO, this past weekend visiting Chris and Deborah. They graciously bought us tickets to join them in attending the Steve Martin and Martin Short event on Saturday afternoon.

It was held at the Fox Theater in downtown St. Louis.

The Fox is one of the last golden age theaters that was built in 1929. Huge, ornate, grand, beautiful, amazing, there are no words to adequately describe this venue. And, despite it’s age, the production, lighting, and sound quality were excellent.

Because Chris bought our tickets after he had acquired their tickets, we didn’t all sit together. Chris and I sat in the mezzanine and the seats had an excellent view of the stage.

Deborah and Betty had seats on the floor and they said they also had a great view of the stage.

We didn’t know what to expect and it turned out to be more than we could have hoped for. Steve Martin and Martin Short are excellent comedians with a long history together. They shared stories and quips about each other with many humorous, visual aids. It was amazing to watch them perform for almost two hours, many times with physical humor, at their ages. Steve is 81 (our age) and Martin is 76.
I have never laughed as much at a performance as I did during their show.

Besides being an excellent banjo player, he is also an accomplished pianist, even while they continued to trade jokes.

Steve played several music pieces with a Bluegrass Band called The Steep Canyon Rangers. They have toured with the show for 16 years. Being a lover of country, western and bluegrass, we loved the music performances.

After the show we went to a restaurant called Eleven Eleven Mississippi. It’s named after its address: 1111 Mississippi Avenue.

The dinner was excellent and a fitting conclusion to a great day.
